This Sunday is the official kick off of one hundred days toward our 100th Anniversary. If you visit the Donelson Family this Sunday you will find some oddly dressed people. To begin the year of celebration everyone is coming deck out in clothing from their favorite era. This could mean that we have some bonnets and gloves. We could have some thin ties from the fifties or some fat ties from the seventies. We could have some straight legged pants or bell bottoms. We have been known to have some of us balding men arriving with a full head of artificial hair. You can dress in what is normal for you but be warned, you will be in the midst of some very strange people.

One can tell that Easter is coming since chocolate eggs and marshmallow rabbits are ready to buy. But the most interesting notification of Easter is the signs placed around different church properties announcing the annual Easter egg hunt.

It has always been interesting to me that a Christian church would sponsor an Easter egg hunt to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am not against fun for children or even having activities that attract non-church going people to walk on to the property of the church. But, I can’t keep from wondering, if there are other ways to accomplish the fun and the efforts to attract people apart from participating in an activity that is so tied to the paganism of our culture.

Throughout the year you will find that the Donelson Family offers many different family fun events, but for Easter, we will be joining together to stand in awe of the reality that God in human flesh was willing to give His life to take the punishment we deserved for our disobedience and then, come alive again proving He has power over death and sin. This celebration may not sound as fun or attractive as eggs and rabbits, but it does have the power to change lives.

Your servant,
Bro. Jim

The first Iowa Planting Project prayer item.

There is a building across the street from the community college in Fort Dodge. This building is owned by a local church but is not being used. Pray that God will move those that have the rights to the land to release the property to be used as a new church to reach the community college.
